This week’s blog is from an e-mail sent to me by Patty Perez, my good friend and partner in Ray of Hope Ministries. Patty works at a full-time job, is involved in leading a worship service at our church (Vincentown United Methodist Church), and attends college. She is a busy person. A few weeks ago she sent me an e-mail explaining that she didn’t know how she would ever get her college assignments completed as the new semester began. However, a few days later she sent me the following e-mail. I believe this is a great testimony of hope fulfilled, which Patty has agreed to share with everyone.
Grace and peace, Ray
I am in total awe!!!! You would not believe what God has done for me.
First of all, I saw my new facilitator for my next class today and confirmed I will be taking the class since he provided a way for me to catch up. I was hoping to have a few weeks to turn in a previous assignment and the make up assignment usually required when you miss a class. I needed to find time to do the week 2 assignment by this coming Tuesday. Well it turns out, I feel confident I have enough time to make up all the assignments needed with a few days to spare.
Now I just got off the phone with my other facilitator from my last class because he had to review my draft. I was really concerned that my paper wasn’t that good since I struggled to find enough time to put it together. All the while, prior to the phone call, I was praying for a miracle – that he would say the paper was great. However, deep down I really didn’t think he was going to say that. I felt that would be too miraculous. Not that God couldn’t perform another miracle but why would He, just for me?
Well, lo and behold, I was surprised again by God. The facilitator told me my paper was one of the best papers so far and that I completely listened to his instructions. He went on to say I have a great way of writing and expressing myself. I just need to work on a few details. In addition, the due date for the paper, which was originally Friday by noon, just got moved to Sunday at midnight. I am shaking my head in wonder.
God is Amazing! Why don’t we have more faith in what we hope for? I was really thinking about this. Is it because we feel we don’t deserve His amazing grace? I once read “Hope is seeing the impossible – but you have to be actively looking“. And it starts with the desire for something with a confidence of expectation. I am not sure why sometimes Hope is achieved beyond our wildest dreams and sometimes it is not. However, I do believe that it is important to have faith “no matter what the situation”. I know God is with me always and will never forsake me. I am truly blessed in all circumstances.
Peace and blessings, Patty
